Infrastructure Financing Sector

The infrastructure sector in India is poised to enter an exciting phase of aggressive growth. The growth is expected to be driven by regulatory reforms and demand for capacity addition in the country to sustain the projected high growth rate of the economy. The emerging opportunities present enormous potential across various infrastructure sub-sectors. Currently, the transportation sector comprising roads, ports and airports is on the upswing. The corporatisation of major port trusts, increasing trend towards offering terminals to private operators as well as development of a number of minor ports by private operators is offering a significant impetus to the port sector and thereby attracting the interest of the financing community. The manufacturing sector is also expected to witness robust growth. The economy is currently marked by significant industrial recovery driven by increased global demand and improved competitive strength of Indian industry. The buoyancy in Index of Industrial Production was contributed mainly by improved performance achieved by the metals, cement, automobile and consumer durables sectors in the manufacturing and core industry space.
