JSW Steel reports 39% growth in crude steel output in June quarter

JSW Steel, an integrated steel manufacturer on Friday reported 39% growth in its crude steel output to 4.10 million tonne (MT) during the quarter ended June 2021. The company had produced 2.96 MT in the April-June quarter of 2020-21.

In June alone, it produced 1.37 MT, up 18% from 1.16 MT in the same month of 2020.The capacity utilisation level of the company came down to 91% during the quarter under review, compared to 93% a year ago due to a shortage of oxygen supply, which was diverted for medical purposes to fight against the COVID-19 virus.

During the first quarter of the ongoing fiscal, the steel manufacturer said it has supplied over 65,000 tonnes of liquid medical oxygen (LMO) to various hospitals across India.

Shares of JSW Steel  are trading at Rs 676.90, up Rs 8.45, or 1.26%  at the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on Friday at 2:22 p.m.

The scrip has touched an intra-day high of Rs 679.75 and low of Rs 669.75. The total volume of shares traded at the BSE is 326,922.

Currently, the stock is trading down  12.43% from its 52-week high of Rs 773  and above 253.1% over the 52-week low of Rs 191.05.
