[04:35:09 PM] => Myiris : Welcome
to the chat session, Mr. Sankarnarayanan
[04:36:02 PM] => Razdan : Considering
that retaliation by US is imminent what's your outlook on
the rupee and the oil front?
[04:36:49 PM] => SS
: The rupee may see volatility over this period and oil prices
would also be volatile.
[04:37:31 PM] => Sastri56 : When
do you think the RBI will cut interest rates considering Fed
has already announced a rate cut?
[04:38:34 PM] => SS
: In my opinion, RBI may not cut interest rates in the short
term.
[04:41:24 PM] => Amit Sinha :
It looks like the US economy will slip into a recession. What's
your outlook on the Indian economy?
[04:41:44 PM] => SS
: The Indian economy is also poised very precariously as data
suggests considerable slowdown in manufacturing.
[04:42:48 PM] => M K Goyanka :
Sir, what is the impact of Inflation and fluctuations in Rupee
value on Income Funds, please tell by siting suitable examples.
Also please let me know what is the impact of Inflation and
Rupee value on imports and exports.
[04:43:39 PM] => SS
: Inflation reduces the real interest rate in the economy
and naturally higher inflation tends to tends to increase
yields, rupee depreciation tends to reduce money market liquidity
and affects interest rates over the short term. In effect
inflation is a more fundamental factor and forex fluctuations
is a technical factor.
[04:44:46 PM] => Trader 90 : When
do you think health insurance and related benefits will improve
in India?
[04:46:25 PM] => SS
: I think it will depend on govt policies, otherwise we see
it taking shape over the next 3-5 years.
[04:47:31 PM] => Trader 90 : Considering
that most MNC companies are seriously looking towards delisting
their Indian subsidiaries, does it make sense to buy into
MNC pharma stocks at all?
[04:48:29 PM] => SS
: I do not think that it makes any sense to buy MNC pharma,
except a few which do not have any intentions as of now. E.g.
- Aventis Phama.
[04:49:49 PM] => Trader 90 : Are
frontline pharma stocks on the way to becoming another bubble
story?
[04:50:55 PM] => SS
: I do not think so as they have hardly moved now to categorize
it that way, but we have to wait and see.
[04:51:50 PM] => Trader 90 : Why
is the buying interest not spreading to second line pharma
stocks?
[04:52:34 PM] => SS
: It always happens later as they are second in line.
[04:54:32 PM] => guptadk_jal :
Whether Global Tele has cash worth 500 crores?
[04:54:47 PM] => SS
: I cannot comment on that.
[04:56:21 PM] => Ajit Naik : How
do you see the GILT prices movement over the next 30 days,
considering the fact that they have fallen quite drastically
since 11-September till now?
[04:58:06 PM] => SS
: We have already seen a sharp revival of prices.
[05:00:31 PM] => Bipin TP : What
is your opinion about tech mutual funds?
[05:00:56 PM] => SS
: I think it will recover with the recovery in the US economy.
[05:01:24 PM] => msksiil : What
is the outlook of debt mutual funds?
[05:03:57 PM] => SS
: Debt mutual funds have shown quite a performance in the
last six months, I think from now on, it would be more realistic.
[05:06:28 PM] => nitin_pareek
: I am a student of management in IISc Bangalore. I am interested
in quantitative and IT tools used as decision support system
for financial companies specially those involved in capital
market. Would u please inform me about such tools used in
TATA MF.
[05:07:16 PM] => SS
: We use company databases for equity research and a technical
analysis software for trends.
[05:08:18 PM] => pranavparikh
: How do you calculate the intrinsic value of software industry?
[05:09:26 PM] => SS
: Quite difficult to put it in one sentence!
[05:09:54 PM] => Raghuram : From
the subject it seems you are bullish about the pharma sector?
What do you see as the prime factors, which drive the sector
forward?
[05:11:58 PM] => SS
: The most important reason for the software industry to take
off was the Internet boom and the resultant boom in IT spending.
We see the generics market potential to be the prime driver
for pharma stocks to be out performers.
[05:13:44 PM] => kiranktk : Can
I buy Fujitsu ICIM at the current price of 55 Rs ?
[05:14:19 PM] => SS
: The new managing director of Fujistu ICIM has an onerous
task in front of him given the difficult market conditions.
[05:15:06 PM] => kiranktk : Is
IBP a good buy at the current price, if so what is your price
target once divestment takes place?
[05:15:30 PM] => SS
: I think the disinvestment program has to take place soon,
otherwise the current price could prove to be the top for
the stock.
[05:16:09 PM] => RBehl : Where
do you see the Dr. Reddy scrip 1 year from now?
[05:16:31 PM] => SS
: The stock could easily double in a years time.
[05:17:00 PM] => Prasad : How
long will it take for the markets to turn around and do you
see the market back to where it was at the peak of the IT
boom?
[05:18:52 PM] => SS
: I think the recovery will be longer and would be better
to pep your portfolio with Dr.Reddys and Ranbaxy as a cure
to the IT ills.
[05:19:15 PM] => Reddy B : Is
there a shift towards debt funds from equity after the US
attacks?
[05:19:50 PM] => SS
: I do not think so.
[05:20:35 PM] => Arun A : Whats
the internal benchmarking system that you use while managing
your funds?
[05:21:17 PM] => SS
: We benchmark against the BSE Sensex for our equity funds.
[05:24:01 PM] => ram_kumar_h :
I am a software professional, male, 26 years old. Could you
please suggest schemes, which will help me, save for a house,
as well as get IT benefits.
[05:24:40 PM] => SS
: As far as equity schemes with IT benefits are concerned
u could invest in a Tax Saving Fund.
[05:25:34 PM] => sk200110 : Why
does Cadila trade at such a low PE? At this level, does it
[05:27:33 PM] => SS
: It does offer scope for appreciation but I think it is better
to stick to quality companies like Dr.Reddys and Ranbaxy where
the upside is better.
[05:39:21 PM] => Khans : Do you
think Biotech is going to be the next big thing?
[05:40:01 PM] => SS
: As far as Indian companies are concerned, biogeneric opportunity
exists. Biotech basic research is still some way off.
[05:40:26 PM] => Shilpa : Whats
your outlook about the bond market?
[05:40:56 PM] => SS
: Its going to be choppy.
[05:41:36 PM] => Raghu87 : What
is the average duration in your debt portfolio?

[05:48:26 PM] => Myiris
