If war happens what will be the impact on the share market?
[05:39:45 PM] => RG
: The impact of a war will depend on the scale of the war.
While we do not believe that there is a possibility of a full-scale
war in the present scenario, a limited war like situation
could have a temporary impact on the markets. But, as seen
before, markets do tend to discount events quickly.
[05:40:48 PM] => jassi210 : Sir,
I have bought lot of tech stocks like Sonata, HFCL, Silverline,Pentacomm,
Cybertech at lower levels. But they have gone more down. So
please suggest me what should I do? Should I hold for long
time for book profit after some time? I want to invest more.
Please suggest me some safe equity?
[05:41:15 PM] => RG
: As per compliance, we do not comment on specific companies.
[05:42:08 PM] => rc6876 : What
is the difference between check writing and check redemption?
[05:42:40 PM] => RG
: The cheque writing option provides the investor with a facility
to write cheques in favour of self or 3rd party on the back
of their investment holdings in the mutual fund. This is automatically
taken as redemption request for their units.
[05:43:03 PM] => In
case of normal redemption, a redemption request application
is made to the mutual fund company which pays the investor
by way of cheque or pay order.
[05:44:24 PM] => ssvasan : What
is the future outlook on VSNL - after 750% dividend payout.
Will it move up on the news of disinvestment?

[05:48:15 PM] => pradeep chauhan
: What are chances of market on Monday?
[05:49:36 PM] => RG
: It is very difficult to predict daily stock market movements.
Markets however, are expected to remain volatile in the near
term given the tensions involving India and Pakistan.
[05:51:04 PM] => Gautam : As a
first time investor is it the right time for me to enter the
markets?
[05:51:27 PM] => RG
: Timing of the markets is difficult. However, on a fundamental
basis, the markets are trading at a Price to Earnings ratio
of 13-14 times forward earnings which is close to the 9 year
historic lower end of the spectrum of 12 times.
[05:52:05 PM] => Ravi Mohan :
Sir, whats the outlook on private sector bank scrips?
[05:53:53 PM] => RG
: With the trend towards universal banking, the banking sector
will see considerable transformation. Also, private banks
have a low cost base which protect their margins when spreads
are under pressure. In terms of valuation the banking sector
is available at attractive valuations and some of the private
banks are well placed to take advantage of this transformation.
[05:54:45 PM] => NG76 : Which
are the scrips that you are looking at to make good returns
medium-term?
[05:55:04 PM] => RG
: No comments
[05:56:22 PM] => Sonu : Sir, do
you expect the media companies to do well, short-term?
[05:57:56 PM] => RG
: The media sector is seeing a major consolidation within
the industry. Also, some of the companies in the sector are
available at attractive valuation. While it is very difficult
to predict short term movements, the long term prospects of
this sector continues to be positive.
[05:59:26 PM] => Vgupta : Where
do you see the sensex at the end of the year?
[06:00:11 PM] => RG
: It is very difficult to predict sensex movements in the
short term, but in our view the long term trend continues
to be positive.
[06:01:28 PM] => Harihar : What
is your outlook for the tech sector for the next 6-months?
[06:02:16 PM] => RG
: The tech sector is expected to grow at 25-30% p.a. according
to the Nasscom this year. The technology companies, particularly
the larger ones have been performing in line with expectation
and based on our recent interaction with managements of some
of the top companies this trend is expected to continue.
[06:02:43 PM] => Moreover,
the increasing trend towards outsourcing by global corporations
is likely to benefit Indian IT companies. Hence the long term
prospects for Indian tech sector is positive.
[06:03:39 PM] => Harihar : Sir,
regarding Sun F&C how do you evaluate performance compared
to other equity funds?
[06:04:07 PM] => RG
: No comments.
[06:04:36 PM] => Reddy : Is Sun
F&C planning to come up with new schemes in the new year?
[06:04:53 PM] => RG
: Yes, we are considering launching some schemes in the medium
term.
[06:05:40 PM] => Vinayak Kamat:
I am a pensioner and would like a diversified portfolio. Could
you please suggest me some Sun F&C schemes?
[06:07:48 PM] => RG
: You may invest in a combination of Money Value Fund- Bond
option, Monthly Income Plan, Balanced Fund and the Value Fund
(diversified equity) based on your risk profile.
[06:08:54 PM] => Raghu : Sir,
as a portfolio manager do you take a short-term interest when
there's a boom?
[06:10:22 PM] => RG
: We normally invest with a long term perspective. However,
we do take advantage of short term opportunities if the market
offers one.
[06:11:01 PM] => Nirmal: Do you
think the auto sector will do well?
[06:13:11 PM] => RG
: The auto sector is showing signs of a turnaround. The two
wheeler industry is particularly doing well. Even the Medium
and Heavy commercial vehicle segment have shown improving
trend in the last few months due to better monsoon and replacement
demand.
[06:14:56 PM] => MehraG : Could
you elaborate on the Sun F&C portfolio composition for equity
funds?
[06:16:01 PM] => RG
: You may get this information on our website www.sunfc.com.
[06:17:26 PM] => Nilesh : Sir,
What's you outlook on cement and engineering? I have invested
in L&T.
[06:18:26 PM] => RG
: The cement sector is going through a consolidation. Cement
companies have managed to turnaround through a combination
of better realization and cost cutting. According to the cement
manufacturers, the cement prices are expected to remain firm
in the medium term and cement companies are expected to benefit
as a result.
[06:19:45 PM] => The
engineering sectors fortunes are largely dependent on the
progress of the economy. The government has indicated pump
priming of the economy through increase in infrastructure
spending. Moreover, the thrust towards power sector reforms
could also benefit the engineering industry over the medium
to long term.
[06:21:43 PM] => Vinod: Sir, Do
you think index funds are a good idea at times like these?
[06:22:01 PM] => RG
: Index funds are for investors who do not wish to take direct
exposure to individual stocks and is a good way to diversify
ones portfolio. Since the index is trading close to its historic
lows it may be a good time to invest from a long term perspective.
[06:22:28 PM] => Myiris : Thats
the end of the chat session for today.
[06:22:49 PM] => Myiris
: Thank you all for sending in your questions.
