Incorporated in 1957, SIV belongs to the Shapoorji Pallonji Group. Initially, it had a capacity of 10 tpa of VSF/VSY, and used imported wood pulp for raw material. In 1969, the company set up a wood pulp plant. In the late 70's, SIV ran into trouble due to the relaxation of import barriers on VSF. The VSF plant had to be closed for 8 years (1979-87).
