Indian equities dropped on Friday erasing earlier gains. Both Sensex and Nifty were trading below 1-month low. At 9.29 a.m, the Sensex was trading down 481.59 points or 1.40% at 33,931.57 with 30 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 144.25 points or 1.36% at 10,432.60 with 52 components falling.
All shares in the Sensex settled with a negative note. ICICI Bank (2.57%), Housing Development Finance Corporation (1.92%), ITC (1.86%), Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (1.70%), Axis Bank (1.67%), and HDFC Bank (1.56%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 244 advances against 1,287 declines.
R*Shares Liquid BeES topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 200.62 million. It was followed by Vakrangee (Rs. 186.54 million), H E G (Rs. 183.51 million) and Fortis Healthcare (Rs. 107.03 million).
The volume chart was led by SRS with trades of over 1.42 million shares. It was followed by Vakrangee (0.92 million), Reliance Communications (0.91 million) and Steel Authority Of India (0.82 million).
