Indian markets ended higher on Thursday snapping earlier losses. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex added 145.47 or 0.52% at 28,129.84 with 18 components posting rise. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty went up by 40.30 or 0.47% at 8,699.40 with 31 components registering rise.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (5.21%), ICICI Bank (4.64%), State Bank Of India (2.00%), Housing Development Finance Corporation (1.54%), Larsen & Toubro (1.26%), and Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (1.17%).
On the other hand, Hindustan Unilever (0.82%), Tata Motors (0.65%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (0.59%), ITC (0.58%), Infosys (0.35%), and Hero Motocorp (0.33%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 1,513 advances against 1,201 declines.
Goldman Sachs Liquid Exchange Traded Scheme - Daily Dividend topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 195.55 million. It was followed by Infibeam Incorporation (Rs. 133.53 million), S R F (Rs. 71.53 million) and G A I L (India) (Rs. 70.13 million).
The volume chart was led by PMC Fincorp with trades of over 14.38 million shares. It was followed by Reliance Communications (0.97 million), Shiva Cement (0.88 million) and Himachal Futuristic Communications (0.62 million).
