Indian equities extended losses in the post noon deals on the back of intense selling pressure seen across board on Friday. Energy, FMCG, pharma and banking stocks traded lower while capital goods, IT, realty and metal stocks witnessed buying interest.
At 12.58 p.m., the Sensex was trading down 349.55 points or 0.60% at 58,111.74 with 10 components posting drop. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 74.05 points or 0.43% at 17,327.60 with 22 components posting fall.
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Tata Steel (1.47%), UltraTech Cement (1.46%), Larsen & Toubro (1%), IndusInd Bank (0.88%), Infosys (0.66%), Axis Bank (0.30%) and Titan (0.12%).
On the other hand, Power Grid Corporation of India (2.68%), Sun Pharma (1.85%), Dr Reddy’s (1.44%), Reliance Industries (1.81%), Bharti Airtel (1.60%), Tech Mahindra (1.48%), NTPC (1.40%) and ITC (129%) were the major losers in the Sensex. Market breadth was negative with 1,941 advances against 1,210 declines.
