Indian equities bounced back on Friday snapping earlier losses. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex gained 1,627.73 or 5.75% at 29,915.96 with 28 components posting rise. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty climbed by 482 points or 5.83% at 8,745.45 with 46 components posting rise.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (18.58%), Ultra Cement (13.01), Hindustan Uniliver (11.75%), Reliance Industries (11.24%), Tata Consultancy Services (9.90%), Tata Steel (9.60%), and Asian Paints (8.91%).
On the other hand, H D F C Bank (1.39%), and Indusind Bank (0.88%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 1,303 advances against 917 declines.
Hindustan Unilever topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 337.13 million. It was followed by Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (Rs. 153.27 million), Info Edge (India) (Rs. 143.62 million) and Titan Company (Rs. 138.14 million).
The volume chart was led by Moh with trades of over 6.45 million shares. It was followed by IDBI Bank (0.70 million), I F C I (0.52 million) and Firstsource Solutions (0.49 million).
