Indian markets continued to fall for the second day on Tuesday. At 15.03., the Sensex was trading down 711.82 points or 2.27% at 30,678.25 with 18 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 221.95 points or 2.41% at 8,975.45 with 36 components falling.
Indusind Bank (9.95%), I C I C I Bank (7.17%), Tata Motors (5.06%), Bajaj Finance (4.76%), Infosys (3.59%), and Housing Development Finance Corporation (3.09%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
On the other hand, major gainers in the 30-share index were Hindustan Unilever (4.98%), Power Grid Corporation Of India (4.68%), Hero Motocorp (4.43%), Asian Paints (4.34%), and Maruti Suzuki India (2.76%).
Market breadth was negative with 763 advances against 1,374 declines.
Siti Networks topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 2.62 million. It was followed by M S T C (Rs. 2.22 million), Jain Irrigation Systems (Rs. 1.74 million) and Nahar Poly Films (Rs. 1.58 million).
The volume chart was led by Siti Networks with trades of over 4.30 million shares. It was followed by Jain Irrigation Systems (0.44 million), Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) (0.10 million) and IL&FS Transportation Networks (0.07 million).
