Indian markets ended higher on Thursday. Both Sensex and Nifty traded above 1-month high. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex gained 89.32 or 0.24% at 36,725.42 with 11 components registering rise. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty gained by 5.20 or 0.05% at 11,058.20.
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Larsen & Toubro (2.76%), Axis Bank (1.77%), Mahindra & Mahindra (1.71%), I T C (1.61%), State Bank Of India (1.26%), and Power Grid Corporation Of India (1.03%).
On the other hand, Coal India (3.09%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (1.97%), NTPC (1.68%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (1.58%), and Cipla (1.23%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 1,168 advances against 1,200 declines.
Tata Steel topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 254.23 million. It was followed by Alfa-Laval (India) (Rs. 88.45 million), REC (Rs. 77.91 million) and Tata Power Company (Rs. 76.41 million).
The volume chart was led by CG Power and Industrial Solutions with trades of over 1.54 million shares. It was followed by Tata Power Company (1.08 million), JM Financial (0.85 million) and Indiabulls Real Estate (0.75 million).
