Indian markets ended higher on Monday snapping earlier losses. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex gained 341.90 or 0.95% at 36,213.38 with 21 components posting rise. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty climbed by 88.45or 0.82% at 10,880.10.
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Tata Consultancy Services (3.07%), Infosys (2.94%), Wipro (2.11%), Bharti Airtel (1.61%), HDFC Bank (1.52%), and Cipla (1.43%).
On the other hand, Coal India (0.37%), Asian Paints (0.23%), State Bank Of India (0.20%), and Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (0.20%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 1,374 advances against 957 declines.
Piramal Enterprises topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 238.18 million. It was followed by Jindal Stainless (Hisar) (Rs. 67.36 million), Sam Leaseco (Rs. 54.23 million) and Jaiprakash Industries (Rs. 42.97 million).
The volume chart was led by Birla Power Solutions with trades of over 12.09 million shares. It was followed by Sam Leaseco (4.22 million), Bellary Steels & Alloys (2.03 million) and Nagarjuna Fertilizers & Chemicals (Merger) (1.61 million).
