Indian markets ended higher on Friday snapping earlier losses. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex gained 361.12 or 1.02% at 35,673.25 with 20 components registering rise. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty climbed by 92.55 or 0.87% at 10,693.70 with 33 components registering rise.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Kotak Mahindra Bank (8.53%), Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (2.71%), Bajaj Auto (2.06%), Infosys (1.92%), Asian Paints (1.69%), and Maruti Suzuki India (1.67%).
On the other hand, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (2.09%), Coal India (1.62%), NTPC (0.93%), Tata Steel (0.62%), Power Grid Corporation Of India (0.44%), and Cipla (0.41%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 991 advances against 1,294 declines.
Kotak Mahindra Bank topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 2,383.78 million. It was followed by Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (Rs. 1,100.18 million), Yes Bank (Rs. 941.09 million) and Power Finance Corporation (Rs. 298.83 million).
The volume chart was led by Reliance Communications with trades of over 15.08 million shares. It was followed by Mangalam Industrial Finance (8.33 million), Yes Bank (5.67 million) and Power Finance Corporation (3.33 million).
