Indian markets continued to gain for the fourth day on Thursday. Both Sensex and Nifty were trading above 1-month high. At 9.59 a.m, the Sensex was trading up 291.51 points or 0.82% at 36,008.46 with 24 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 82.40 points or 0.77% at 10,811.25 with 39 components gaining.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Tata Steel (2.44%), Reliance Industries (2.16%), Power Grid Corporation Of India (1.60%), Bajaj Auto (1.53%), ITC (1.44%), and Mahindra & Mahindra (1.42%).
On the other hand, Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (2.45%), Coal India (1.45%), Tata Consultancy Services (0.73%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (0.59%), Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (0.12%), and NTPC (0.10%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was positive with 890 advances against 558 declines.
Future Retail topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 3,004.15 million. It was followed by Mahindra Logistics (Rs. 869.83 million), Yes Bank (Rs. 856.61 million) and Jet Airways (India) (Rs. 150.93 million).
The volume chart was led by Future Retail with trades of over 5.70 million shares. It was followed by Yes Bank (5.61 million), South Indian Bank , The (2.58 million) and Mahindra Logistics (1.62 million).
