Indian equities continued to rise for the third day on Wednesday. At 9.29 a.m, the Sensex was trading up 159.62 points or 0.45% at 35,672.76 with 20 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 35.15 points or 0.33% at 10,720.75 with 27 components gaining.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Hero Motocorp (1.44%), Infosys (1.26%), ITC (1.04%), Cipla (0.98%), Bharti Airtel (0.82%), and Kotak Mahindra Bank (0.80%).
On the other hand, NTPC (1.10%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (0.96%), Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (0.76%), Tata Power Company (0.60%), Coal India (0.60%), and Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (0.44%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 626 advances against 464 declines.
