Indian markets ended lower on Friday. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex lost 463.95 or 1.33% at 34,315.63 with 25 components posting drop. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty went down by 149.50 or 1.43% at 10,303.55 with 42 components posting drop.
Biggest losers in the 30-share index were Housing Development Finance Corporation (4.32%), Reliance Industries (4.11%), Hero Motocorp (3.70%), Infosys (3.11%), Mahindra & Mahindra (2.61%), and Tata Power Company (2.49%).
On the other hand, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (2.52%), Kotak Mahindra Bank (1.74%), Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (1.18%), Hindustan Unilever (1.15%), ITC (0.73%), and NTPC (0.22%) were the major gainers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 815 advances against 1,515 declines.
Indiabulls Housing Finance topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 2,153.26 million. It was followed by Reliance Industries (Rs. 1,609.89 million), Dewan Housing Finance Corporation (Rs. 1,093.28 million) and Yes Bank (Rs. 896.26 million).
The volume chart was led by Dewan Housing Finance Corporation with trades of over 5.16 million shares. It was followed by Yes Bank (4.12 million), Suzlon Energy (3.74 million) and Indiabulls Housing Finance (3.29 million).
