Indian equities continued to rally for the second day on Tuesday. At 9.36 a.m, the Sensex was trading up 96.17 points or 0.28% at 34,570.55 with 17 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 1.90 points or 0.02% at 10,346.15 with 21 components falling.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (1.92%), Coal India (1.83%), Housing Development Finance Corporation (1.79%), Tata Steel (1.06%), Larsen & Toubro (1.02%), and Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (0.87%).
On the other hand, Tata Motors (4.30%), ICICI Bank (1.38%), Kotak Mahindra Bank (1.28%), Bajaj Auto (1.23%), Asian Paints (1.22%), and Bharti Airtel (1.13%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was positive with 874 advances against 430 declines.
Dewan Housing Finance Corporation topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 246.50 million. It was followed by L I C Housing Finance (Rs. 182.09 million), Yes Bank (Rs. 174.97 million) and Reliance Industries (Rs. 131.65 million).
The volume chart was led by Dewan Housing Finance Corporation with trades of over 1.09 million shares. It was followed by Reliance Communications (0.83 million), Yes Bank (0.76 million) and L I C Housing Finance (0.44 million).
