Indian equities ended lower on Friday. Both Sensex and Nifty traded below 1-month low. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex lost 279.62 or 0.75% at 36,841.60 with 14 components posting drop. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty fell by 91.25 or 0.81% at 11,143.10 with 34 components posting drop.
Major losers in the 30-share index were Kotak Mahindra Bank (3.86%), Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (2.94%), Maruti Suzuki India (2.04%) amd Infosys (1.96%).
On the other hand, Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (1.95%), Wipro (1.38%), ITC (1.37%), Tata Consultancy Services (1.30%), Asian Paints (1.07%) and M&M (1.05%) were the biggest gainers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 547 advances against 1,929 declines.
Oracle Financial Services Software topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 1,062.63 million. It was followed by Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (Rs. 311.85 million), Graphite India (Rs. 175.36 million) and DCM Shriram (Rs. 94.20 million).
The volume chart was led by Union Bank Of India with trades of over 0.98 million shares. It was followed by TV18 Broadcast (0.89 million), Sintex Industries (0.66 million) and Syndicate Bank (0.62 million).
