Indian equities continued to rise for the fifth day on Thursday. At 9.27 a.m, the Sensex was trading up 234.18 points or 0.65% at 36,500.11 with 24 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 71.90 points or 0.66% at 11,020.20 with 41 components gaining.
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Reliance Industries (1.61%), State Bank Of India (1.51%), Maruti Suzuki India (1.17%), ICICI Bank (1.12%), and Kotak Mahindra Bank (1.11%).
On the other hand, Tata Consultancy Services (0.74%), Mahindra & Mahindra (0.48%), Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (0.27%), Infosys (0.23%), and Wipro (0.13%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was positive with 792 advances against 257 declines.
Gayatri Projects topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 470.11 million. It was followed by Nath Bio-Genes (India) (Rs. 256.16 million), Tata Consultancy Services (Rs. 98.56 million) and Indian Oil Corporation (Rs. 82.16 million).
The volume chart was led by Gayatri Projects with trades of over 2.52 million shares. It was followed by Spicejet (0.66 million), Adani Power (0.57 million) and Nath Bio-Genes (India) (0.51 million).
