Indian equities ended higher on Friday snapping earlier losses. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex added 83.31 or 0.23% at 35,657.86 with 13 components posting rise. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty went up by 22.90 or 0.21% at 10,772.65 with 28 components registering rise.
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Hero Motocorp (4.25%), Tata Motors (3.69%), Bajaj Auto (1.80%), Tata Consultancy Services (1.68%), Mahindra & Mahindra (1.59%), and Reliance Industries (1.19%).
On the other hand, Cipla (2.11%), Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (1.37%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (1.28%), NTPC (1.22%), Housing Development Finance Corporation (1.11%), and Wipro (0.75%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 1,284 advances against 1,064 declines.
Varroc Engineering topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 2,367.56 million. It was followed by Bajaj Auto (Rs. 861.39 million), R*Shares Liquid BeES (Rs. 614.86 million) and I C I C I Bank (Rs. 513.26 million).
The volume chart was led by Essar Steel with trades of over 6.44 million shares. It was followed by Alok Industries (5.85 million), ICICI Prudential Business Cycle Fund Series 1 - Regular Plan - Dividend (5.00 million) and IDBI Bank (4.49 million).
