Indian markets ended lower on Friday. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex declined 300.82 or 0.86% at 34,848.30. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty went down by 86.30 or 0.81% at 10,596.40.
Biggest losers in the 30-share index Larsen & Toubro (3.54%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (3.21%), ICICI Bank (3.21%), Tata Motors (3.14%), Tata Steel (5.05%) and Wipro (2.88%).
On the other hand, Hindustan Unilever (2.22%), Kotak Mahindra Bank (1.99%), Indusind Bank (1.23%), ITC (1.13%) and Hero Motocorp (0.31%) were the biggest gainers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 862 advances against 1,523 declines.
Reliance Communications topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 1,233.77 million. It was followed by Bajaj Finance (Rs. 777.88 million), Maruti Suzuki India (Rs. 686.17 million) and Cadila Healthcare (Rs. 625.90 million).
The volume chart was led by Reliance Communications with trades of over 80.38 million shares. It was followed by Reliance Naval and Engineering (16.28 million), Jaiprakash Associates (4.10 million) and Hindustan Construction Company (2.87 million).
