Indian equities continued to gain for the second day on Monday. Both Sensex and Nifty were trading above 3-month high. At 9.22 a.m, the Sensex was trading up 26.56 points or 0.07% at 35,562.35 with 15 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 9.70 points or 0.09% at 10,816.20 with 24 components gaining.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (1.57%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (1.24%), HDFC Bank (0.70%), Bajaj Auto (0.56%), Hindustan Unilever (0.50%), and Kotak Mahindra Bank (0.44%).
On the other hand, Asian Paints (1.52%), Infosys (0.68%), ICICI Bank (0.68%), Coal India (0.61%), NTPC (0.54%), and Tata Steel (0.48%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 586 advances against 496 declines.
Graphite India topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 92.71 million. It was followed by PC Jeweller (Rs. 87.66 million), Canara Bank (Rs. 77.26 million) and Rain Industries (Rs. 64.82 million).
The volume chart was led by Gitanjali Gems with trades of over 0.63 million shares. It was followed by Electrosteel Steels (0.54 million), PC Jeweller (0.46 million) and Reliance Communications (0.32 million).
