Indian equities bounced back on Tuesday snapping earlier losses. The Nifty was trading below 2-month low. At 9.26 a.m, the Sensex was trading up 80.54 points or 0.24% at 33,855.20 with 20 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 3.10 points or 0.03% at 10,375.30 with 21 components falling.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Tata Steel (1.42%), Bharti Airtel (1.41%), Tata Consultancy Services (1.27%), Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (1.08%), Axis Bank (0.98%), and Tata Power Company (0.76%).
On the other hand, Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (0.81%), Kotak Mahindra Bank (0.79%), Bajaj Auto (0.42%), Cipla (0.38%), Asian Paints (0.28%), and ITC (0.27%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 704 advances against 576 declines.
R*Shares Liquid BeES topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 369.44 million. It was followed by Fortis Healthcare (Rs. 218.80 million), Punjab National Bank (Rs. 129.50 million) and Vakrangee (Rs. 108.26 million).
The volume chart was led by Electrosteel Steels with trades of over 7.63 million shares. It was followed by Fortis Healthcare (1.48 million), Punjab National Bank (1.16 million) and Bhushan Steel (0.70 million).
