Indian equities continued to rise for the second day on Thursday. Both Sensex and Nifty were trading at a new life time high. At 9.31 a.m, the Sensex was trading up 357.09 points or 1.02% at 35,438.91 with 25 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 88.95 points or 0.82% at 10,877.50 with 38 components gaining.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were HDFC Bank (2.31%), State Bank Of India (2.12%), Axis Bank (1.82%), Hero Motocorp (1.79%), Housing Development Finance Corporation (1.51%), and Kotak Mahindra Bank (1.48%).
On the other hand, Infosys (0.94%), and Tata Consultancy Services (0.14%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was positive with 1,243 advances against 394 declines.
State Bank Of India topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 533.44 million. It was followed by Hindustan Unilever (Rs. 65.58 million), Tinplate Company of India (Rs. 61.77 million) and Thirumalai Chemicals (Rs. 49.48 million).
The volume chart was led by Unitech with trades of over 2.24 million shares. It was followed by State Bank Of India (1.71 million), Hindustan Construction Company (0.61 million) and Uttam Value Steels (0.60 million).
