Sensex down 78 points; Nifty near 10,200

Indian equities continued to drop for the third day on Thursday. At 06.36 p.m, the Sensex was trading down 77.63 points or 0.24% at 32,506.72 with 22 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 14.15 points or 0.14% at 10,196.70 with 41 components falling.

Major losers in the 30-share index were Axis Bank (9.78%), ICICI Bank (5.07%), Cipla (3.26%), State Bank Of India (2.77%), Asian Paints (1.71%), and Hindustan Unilever (1.36%).

On the other hand, Reliance Industries (5.00%), Power Grid Corporation Of India (3.00%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (1.64%), Wipro (1.21%), ITC (0.99%), and Kotak Mahindra Bank (0.97%) were the biggest gainers in the Sensex.

Market breadth was positive with 1,016 advances against 565 declines.

Reliance Industries topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 65.04 million. It was followed by 63 Moons Technologies (Rs. 54.54 million), Axis Bank (Rs. 37.06 million) and Balasore Alloys (Rs. 36.93 million).

The volume chart was led by GVK Power & Infrastructure with trades of over 1.19 million shares. It was followed by Sanwaria Consumer (0.60 million), Lycos Internet (0.55 million) and Balasore Alloys (0.43 million).
