Indian equities ended flat on Monday. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex gained 32.67 or 0.10% at 31,846.89 with 15 components registering rise. while the broad based NSE Nifty closed flat with a gain of 9.05 points or 0.09%, at 9,988.75.23 components posting rise.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Coal India (1.81%), Hindustan Unilever (1.37%), Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (1.34%), Kotak Mahindra Bank (1.34%), Tata Power Company (1.24%), and Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (1.16%).
On the other hand, Power Grid Corporation Of India (1.68%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (1.58%), Reliance Industries (0.73%), NTPC (0.68%), Bajaj Auto (0.58%), and Hero Motocorp (0.43%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 1,466 advances against 1,070 declines.
IDFC topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 571.98 million. It was followed by R*Shares Liquid BeES (Rs. 529.04 million), Meghmani Organics (Rs. 424.13 million) and Jaiprakash Associates (Rs. 371.52 million).
The volume chart was led by Jaiprakash Associates with trades of over 20.03 million shares. It was followed by IDFC (8.87 million), Meghmani Organics (4.31 million) and South Indian Bank , The (3.26 million).
