Indian markets continued to rise for the second day on Monday. At 9.34 a.m, the Sensex was trading up 69.93 points or 0.22% at 31,884.15 with 19 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 3.95 points or 0.04% at 9,983.65 with 30 components gaining.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Tata Motors (1.79%), Tata Power Company (1.55%), Tata Steel (1.44%), ICICI Bank (1.32%), Coal India (0.90%), and Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (0.90%).
On the other hand, Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (1.36%), Power Grid Corporation Of India (1.27%), Bharti Airtel (0.80%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (0.72%), Reliance Industries (0.55%), and Bajaj Auto (0.39%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was positive with 1,031 advances against 496 declines.
Sun Pharma Advanced Research Company topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 158.28 million. It was followed by H E G (Rs. 116.07 million), Jindal Steel & Power (Rs. 115.48 million) and T V S Electronics (Rs. 100.19 million).
The volume chart was led by Sanwaria Consumer with trades of over 2.04 million shares. It was followed by Jaiprakash Associates (1.42 million), Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) (0.88 million) and Jindal Steel & Power (0.73 million).
