Sensex gains 87 points; Nifty above 9,750

Indian equities bounced back on Tuesday snapping earlier losses. At 9.40 a.m, the Sensex was trading up 86.77 points or 0.28% at 31,345.62 with 24 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 29.00 points or 0.30% at 9,783.35 with 36 components gaining.

Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Axis Bank (1.71%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (0.97%), Infosys (0.94%), Tata Motors (0.76%), Cipla (0.68%), and Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (0.61%).

On the other hand, Hero Motocorp (0.55%), State Bank Of India (0.46%), Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (0.12%), Mahindra & Mahindra (0.06%), and HDFC Bank (0.04%) were the major losers in the Sensex.

Market breadth was negative with 809 advances against 611 declines.

Infosys topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 312.30 million. It was followed by Kotak Mahindra Bank (Rs. 199.46 million), Hercules Hoists (Rs. 185.64 million) and BEML (Rs. 78.98 million).

The volume chart was led by SBI SDFS - 90 Days - 60 - Dividend with trades of over 3.79 million shares. It was followed by Hercules Hoists (1.29 million), Jaiprakash Associates (1.25 million) and Suzlon Energy (0.99 million).
