Sensex, Nifty end flat; Sun Pharma, SBI top gainers

Indian equities ended flat on Thursday snapping earlier losses. At the close, the 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex ended flat with a rise of 7.10 points or 0.02% at 31,290.74, 10 components posting rise. while the broad based NSE Nifty closed flat with a decline of 3.60 points or 0.04%, at 9,630.00 with 32 components posting drop.

Major gainers in the 30-share index were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (2.03%), State Bank Of India (1.50%), Housing Development Finance Corporation (1.41%), Reliance Industries (1.06%), Bajaj Auto (1.02%), and Tata Power Company (0.79%).

On the other hand, Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (2.82%), Hindustan Unilever (2.62%), GAIL (India) (2.33%), Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (2.05%), Coal India (1.81%), and Hero Motocorp (1.18%) were the major losers in the Sensex.

Market breadth was negative with 1,094 advances against 1,455 declines.

Indiabulls Real Estate topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 8,898.89 million. It was followed by Force Motors (Rs. 1,000.23 million), Kotak Mahindra Bank (Rs. 799.13 million) and Spicejet (Rs. 734.19 million).

The volume chart was led by Indiabulls Real Estate with trades of over 46.40 million shares. It was followed by Lanco Infratech (44.85 million), Jaiprakash Associates (24.35 million) and Reliance Communications (7.33 million).
