Torrent Pharmaceuticals, one of the leading pharma companies of the country, has entered into agreement with Novartis AG to acquire certain generic drugs. The closure of the deal is subject to the approval of Competition Commission of India (CCI) and other applicable regulatory approvals.

Total volume of shares traded on the bourses today was lower by 99.73% to 2,955 compared with 22-day average volume of 1,098,782.

Torrent Pharmaceuticals is Flagship Company of the Torrent group, a leader in cardiovascular and central nervous system segments. It also has presence in gastro-intestinal, diabetology, anti-infective and pain management segments.

Shares of the company declined Rs 22.35, or 1.5%, to trade at Rs 1,464.00. The total volume of shares traded was 2,955 at the BSE (10.27 a.m., Wednesday).
