Indian equities continued to rally for the second day on Friday. At 9.25 a.m, the Sensex was trading up 48.90 points or 0.17% at 29,381.06 with 18 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 17.70 points or 0.19% at 9,104.00 with 30 components gaining.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were ICICI Bank (1.78%), Bharti Airtel (1.45%), ITC (1.08%), Tata Power Company (0.75%), Asian Paints (0.73%), and State Bank Of India (0.65%).
On the other hand, Tata Motors (0.82%), Bharat Heavy Electricals (0.54%), Hero Motocorp (0.51%), Infosys (0.49%), Cipla (0.43%), and HDFC Bank (0.34%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was positive with 882 advances against 309 declines.
Balkrishna Industries topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 2,689.76 million. It was followed by Spicejet (Rs. 156.48 million), Reliance Capital (Rs. 31.15 million) and Bombay Dyeing and Manufacturing Company (Rs. 24.63 million).
The volume chart was led by Balkrishna Industries with trades of over 1.88 million shares. It was followed by Spicejet (1.66 million), Bhansali Engineering Polymers (0.32 million) and Bombay Dyeing and Manufacturing Company (0.30 million).
