Indian rupee has appreciated on Wednesday against US dollar. Indian currency rose 15 paise or 0.24% against dollar to settle at 61.61. Rupee has witnessed a high of 61.58 and a low of 61.95. Its 52-week range was 58.34-63.91.

The Dollar index, a measure of the value of the US dollar relative to a basket of foreign currencies, gained 0.22% to settle at 86.12.

Indian markets settled lower on Wednesday. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex declined 62.52 points or 0.23% at 26,567.99 with 21 components registering drop. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty went down by 19.25 points or 0.24% at 7,945.55 with 36 components posting drop.
