Kharif sowing area has crossed 13.1 million hectare as per the latest reports of sowing of kharif crops. 

Rice has been sown/transplanted in 2.19 million ha, pulses in 4.30 lakh ha, coarse cereals in 1.95 million ha, and oilseeds in 4.79 lakh ha as on Jun. 27, 2014. 

The planting of sugarcane and cotton is in progress. Sugarcane has been planted in 4.39 million ha and cotton in 2.90 million ha as on today.
