Nifty rolls were observed at 25.3% vs. 3M average of 30.48%. Market wide rollover was at 17.34% vs. 3M average of 26.19%.

Sectorally, capital goods, FMCG and power stocks are witnessing high rollover of positions while stocks from the infrastructure, cement and metal space are witnessing relatively low rolls into the May series.

Highest rollover was observed in McLeod Russel (33%), Crompton Greaves (25%), Exide Industries (25%), Bank of Baroda (24%) and Tata Power (24%).

Rollover activity is yet to begin among Glenmark Pharma, Federal Bank, Hexaware, CESC and LIC Housing Finance.

Among index stocks, Bajaj Auto (46%), ITC (32%) and Bhel (31%) are witnessing highs rolls into the May series while Idea (10.7%), Tech Mahindra (12.1%), Hindalco (12.2%) and Bharti Airtel (12.8%) are seeing low rollover into next series.

Commenting on the market rollover, ICICIdirect said, ''Rollover activity among index stocks is comparatively higher than midcap stock. A shortened settlement week is likely to trigger increased roll action in the first couple of sessions. The Nifty is also witnessing lower than average rollover in comparison to three month average. Nifty May series futures are witnessing higher addition of open interest than closure in the April series. There are still more than 15 million shares left in the April series amid roll spread of 48 points. Current roll spread is likely to trigger short rollover.''
