US stock markets closed higher on Thursday, led by financial shares, after data showed U.S. economic growth was stronger than previously reported last quarter, helped by robust consumer spending, and the tech-heavy Nasdaq set a record closing high.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 69.17 points or 0.33 percent to settle at 20,728.49. NASDAQ 100 index gained 9.47 points or 0.17 percent to close at 5,439.74. The broader S&P 500 index gained 6.93 points or 0.29 percent to end at 2,368.06.
