US stock markets settled lower on Thursday as retail stocks slumped on disappointing earnings from Macy's Inc. which weighed on the consumer discretionary sector.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 23.69 points or 0.11 percent to settle at 20,919.42. NASDAQ 100 index declined 7.46 points or 0.13 percent to close at 5,674.22. The broader S&P 500 index dropped 5.19 points, or 0.22 percent, to 2,394.44.
