Indian markets bounced back on Friday snapping earlier losses. At 9.31 a.m, the Sensex was trading up 275.09 points or 0.74% at 37,396.31 with 25 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 89.50 points or 0.80% at 11,323.85 with 41 components gaining.
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Tata Steel (3.67%), ICICI Bank (3.24%), Asian Paints (2.69%), Axis Bank (2.14%), NTPC (1.98%), and Housing Development Finance Corporation (1.97%).
On the other hand, Infosys (1.03%), Maruti Suzuki India (0.45%), Tata Consultancy Services (0.33%), and Hindustan Unilever (0.10%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was positive with 866 advances against 429 declines.
Yes Bank topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 1,701.84 million. It was followed by Godrej Consumer Products (Rs. 169.34 million), Vedanta (Rs. 105.82 million) and Tata Steel (Rs. 91.19 million).
The volume chart was led by Yes Bank with trades of over 6.71 million shares. It was followed by Reliance Communications (1.21 million), Jai Balaji Industries (0.51 million) and Birla Precision Technologies (0.50 million).
