Indian equities continued to decline for the second day on Tuesday. At 9.30 a.m, the Sensex was trading down 139.96 points or 0.39% at 35,408.30 with 24 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 46.45 points or 0.43% at 10,753.40 with 42 components falling.
Major losers in the 30-share index were Infosys (1.28%), Tata Power Company (1.13%), Hindustan Unilever (1.03%), Bajaj Auto (0.96%), Coal India (0.76%), and Hero Motocorp (0.76%).
On the other hand, Tata Steel (0.52%), Bharti Airtel (0.51%), Tata Motors (0.37%), HDFC Bank (0.24%), and Asian Paints (0.04%) were the biggest gainers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 389 advances against 776 declines.
Tata Consultancy Services topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 785.11 million. It was followed by CARE Ratings (Rs. 190.45 million), R*Shares Liquid BeES (Rs. 93.41 million) and I C I C I Bank (Rs. 84.01 million).
The volume chart was led by DSP BlackRock A.C.E. Fund (Analysts Conviction Equalized) - Series 1 - Regular Plan - Growth with trades of over 8.00 million shares. It was followed by Alok Industries (3.20 million), Reliance Communications (1.86 million) and Unitech (0.53 million).
