Indian equities continued to rise for the fifth day on Monday. At 9.41 a.m, the Sensex was trading up 206.70 points or 0.57% at 36,593.31 with 18 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 32.25 points or 0.30% at 10,939.20 with 24 components gaining.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Reliance Industries (2.61%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (1.98%), Infosys (1.81%), HDFC Bank (0.88%), Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (0.86%), and Cipla (0.73%).
On the other hand, Wipro (2.47%), Bajaj Auto (0.68%), Tata Power Company (0.66%), Housing Development Finance Corporation (0.65%), Axis Bank (0.60%), and Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (0.60%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 654 advances against 577 declines.
