Indian equities dropped on Friday erasing earlier gains. Both Sensex and Nifty were trading below 1-month low. At 10.33 a.m, the Sensex was trading down 31.83 points or 0.10% at 30,825.69 with 20 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 17.75 points or 0.19% at 9,486.35 with 34 components falling.
Biggest losers in the 30-share index were Bharti Airtel (1.82%), Larsen & Toubro (1.79%), I C I C I Bank (1.02%), Hero Motocorp (0.89%), Bajaj Auto (0.89%), and Housing Development Finance Corporation (0.77%).
On the other hand, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (2.76%), ITC (1.88%), Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (1.15%), Cipla (0.85%), Tata Consultancy Services (0.78%), and Infosys (0.42%) were the biggest gainers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 842 advances against 967 declines.
Kesoram Industries topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 1,120.31 million. It was followed by Jaiprakash Associates (Rs. 279.46 million), R*Shares Liquid BeES (Rs. 229.43 million) and Indiabulls Real Estate (Rs. 159.22 million).
The volume chart was led by Jaiprakash Associates with trades of over 12.31 million shares. It was followed by Kesoram Industries (7.75 million), Suzlon Energy (3.58 million) and Lanco Infratech (3.34 million).
