Indian markets bounced back on Thursday snapping earlier losses. At 9.32 a.m, the Sensex was trading up 225.29 points or 0.66% at 34,308.00 with 24 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 41.85 points or 0.40% at 10,518.55 with 36 components gaining.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Cipla (6.12%), Infosys (1.88%), Hero Motocorp (1.28%), Axis Bank (1.25%), Housing Development Finance Corporation (1.24%), and State Bank Of India (1.18%).
On the other hand, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (1.51%), Power Grid Corporation Of India (1.28%), Asian Paints (0.49%), NTPC (0.21%), and Tata Steel (0.05%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was positive with 1,231 advances against 311 declines.
H E G topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 232.13 million. It was followed by Kotak Mahindra Bank (Rs. 223.26 million), Spicejet (Rs. 169.95 million) and Rain Industries (Rs. 88.70 million).
The volume chart was led by Electrosteel Steels with trades of over 5.53 million shares. It was followed by Uttam Value Steels (5.24 million), Jaiprakash Associates (1.25 million) and Spicejet (1.20 million).
