Indian markets ended higher on Friday. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex added 261.76 or 0.76% at 34,924.87 with 23 components posting rise. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty climbed by 91.30 or 0.87% at 10,605.15 with 38 components posting rise.
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Tata Power Company (6.09%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (4.59%), Tata Steel (3.21%), Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (2.17%), Kotak Mahindra Bank (1.89%), and Axis Bank (1.88%).
On the other hand, Coal India (1.13%), ITC (0.84%), State Bank Of India (0.74%), Tata Consultancy Services (0.36%), ICICI Bank (0.08%), and NTPC (0.03%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 1,445 advances against 921 declines.
IDBI Bank topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 338.67 million. It was followed by India Cements (Rs. 114.25 million), Bombay Dyeing and Manufacturing Company (Rs. 91.25 million) and Karur Vysya Bank , The (Rs. 88.27 million).
The volume chart was led by IDBI Bank with trades of over 5.17 million shares. It was followed by G M R Infrastructure (1.50 million), Karur Vysya Bank , The (0.90 million) and India Cements (0.87 million).
