European stock markets are trading lower on Tuesday after Asia traders booked their best single day gains in two weeks.

UK's benchmark index FTSE 100 fell 2.74 points or 0.04 percent to trade at 6,744.09. Germany's benchmark index DAX declined 6.51 points or 0.06 percent to trade at 10,678.32. French benchmark index CAC 40 declined 4.05 points or 0.09 percent to trade at 4,570.27.

On the other hand, Europe's leading Blue-chip index, EURO STOXX 50 gained 1.04 points or 0.03 percent to trade at 3,053.79.

On Monday, European stock markets closed higher. Europe's leading Blue-chip index, EURO STOXX 50 rose 37.62 points or 1.25 percent to settle at 3,052.75. UK's benchmark index FTSE 100 rose 16.11 points or 0.24 percent to close at 6,746.83.
