European stock markets closed mixed on Thursday, as Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA's 11th-hour bid to raise capital failed, dragging financial shares lower.
Europe's leading Blue-chip index, EURO STOXX 50 lost 1.24 points or 0.04 percent to settle at 3,269.51. Germany's benchmark index DAX lost 12.54 points or 0.11 percent to end at 11,456.10.
On the other hand, UK's benchmark index FTSE 100 gained 22.26 points or 0.32 percent to close at 7,063.68. French benchmark index CAC 40 went up 0.81 points or 0.02 percent to end at 4,834.63.
