European stock markets settled lower on Wednesday on reports President Donald Trump asked the former FBI Director James Comey to end a probe into the former national security advisor.
Europe's leading Blue-chip index, EURO STOXX 50 fell 57.06 points or 1.57 percent to end at 3,584.83. UK's benchmark index FTSE 100 down to 18.56 points or 0.25 percent to close at 7,503.47.
Germany's benchmark index DAX declined 172.92 points or 1.35 percent to end at 12,631.61. French benchmark index CAC 40 dropped 88.21 points or 1.63 percent to end at 5,317.89.
