European stock markets settled lower on Tuesday, with a selloff in the oil prices knocking down oil shares, while investors stepped back before this week's Dutch election and the Federal Reserve’s policy meeting.
Europe's leading Blue-chip index, EURO STOXX 50 declined 16.06 points or 0.47 percent to settle at 3,399.43. UK's benchmark index FTSE 100 lost 9.23 points or 0.13 percent to close at 7,357.85.
Meanwhile, Germany's benchmark index DAX lost 1.24 points or 0.01 percent to end at 11,988.79. French benchmark index CAC 40 lost 25.34 points or 0.51 percent to end at 4,974.26.
