Asian stock markets are trading lower on Thursday after the Federal Reserve raised rates for the first time in a year and hinted at the risk of a faster pace of tightening than investors were positioned for.
Japan's benchmark index, Nikkei 225 fell 34.21 points or 0.18 percent to trade at 19,219.40. China's benchmark index, Shanghai Composite lost 17.42 points or 0.55 percent to trade at 3,123.11. Hong Kong's Hang Seng declined 353.19 points or 1.57 percent to trade at 22,103.43.
Singapore's Straits Times lost 28.16 points or 0.95 percent to trade at 2,925.90. South Korea's KOSPI lost 7.74 points or 0.38 percent to trade at 2,029.13. Taiwan's TAIEX declined 52.26 points or 0.56 percent to trade at 9,316.26.
