Asian stock markets closed mixed on Tuesday with Treasuries trading near the highest level this year as investors anticipated a near-certain rate hike from the Federal Reserve this week. Oil fell for a seventh day.
Japan's benchmark index, Nikkei 225 fell 24.25 points or 0.12 percent to settle at 19,609.50. Hong Kong's Hang Seng declined 1.72 points or 0.01 percent to end at 23,827.95. Singapore's Straits Times declined 3.75 points or 0.12 percent to end at 3,143.40.
On the other hand, China's benchmark index, Shanghai Composite gained 2.30 points or 0.07 percent to close at 3,239.33. South Korea's KOSPI gained 16.19 points or 0.76 percent to end at 2,133.78. Taiwan's TAIEX went up 46.87 points or 0.48 percent to end at 9,744.21.
