Asian stock markets settled mixed on Tuesday, tracking the lackluster cues from Wall Street and the plunge in crude oil prices overnight.
Japan's benchmark index, Nikkei 225 fell 152.89 points or 0.79 percent to settle at 19,301.44. China's benchmark index, Shanghai Composite lost 9.56 points or 0.3 percent to close at 3,161.67. South Korea's KOSPI lost 3.66 points or 0.18 percent to end at 2,045.12.
On the other hand, Hong Kong's Hang Seng gained 186.16 points or 0.83 percent to end at 22,744.85. Singapore's Straits Times gained 24.48 points or 0.82 percent to end at 3,006.02. Taiwan's TAIEX gained 7.22 points or 0.08 percent to end at 9,349.64.
