Asian stock markets settled mixed on Monday while the dollar rebounded after a U.S. job report showed strong wage gains, giving more ammunition to U.S. policymakers planning further rate rises.
Japan's benchmark index, Nikkei 225 declined 66.36 points or 0.34 percent to settle at 19,454.33. South Korea's KOSPI declined 0.34 points or 0.02 percent to end at 2,048.78. Taiwan's TAIEX declined 29.80 points or 0.32 percent to end at 9,342.42.
On the other hand, China's benchmark index, Shanghai Composite rose 16.92 points or 0.54 percent to close at 3,171.24. Hong Kong's Hang Seng went up 55.68 points or 0.25 percent to end at 22,558.69. Singapore's Straits Times went up 18.91 points or 0.64 percent to end at 2,981.54.
